What was and still is.

This series explores the quiet desolation of Saskatchewan’s winter prairies. The solitary buildings and snow-blanketed landscapes capture a stark duality—serenity and harshness, peace and inhospitability. The stillness of the snow-covered ground, disrupted only by biting winds, evokes a profound sense of isolation.

For some, this solitude may feel calming, offering a meditative retreat into nature’s simplicity. For others, it may stir unease, a reminder of nature’s indifference to human presence.

Photographed in extreme conditions, where temperatures reached -36°C/-33°F, this work is as much a reflection of endurance as it is an homage to the prairies’ unique beauty—a place that is both unforgiving and quietly mesmerizing.
